Sumanjit Kaur Johal

β€œIn my creative practice I am fascinated and passionate about exploring the human experience and existential philosophies through the observation of the diverse and ever-evolving world we live in. To any young people considering becoming an artist I would say it is a profession that will give you enormous joy and allow you to be unapologetically honest in your creative reflection of life..”

Bio

I am a creative education professional, freelance mixed-media artist and a co-founder of a community arts & education non-profit company called Creative Cohesion CIC (formally known as Art Sikh), which is focused on community cohesion and advancement of community engagement with creative arts.

I am passionate about exploring the connections between religion, culture, heritage, and community cohesion through the creative arts. My career history has inspired and enabled me to work within the community, raising aspirations and engaging marginalised groups through the medium of creative arts and multi-faith/ cultural cohesion within our diverse communities.

Working with various local council authorities, and public and private organisations has provided me with opportunities in developing and delivering exhibitions and projects that create and encourage meaningful and informative dialogues between various cultural, faith and belief communities to champion social inclusivity through multi-cultural arts.
